The changes, which took effect at 08:00 UTC, aim to broaden the reach of the platform’s premium tiering system. By allowing OTC Spot Trading Volume to count at a 4x multiplier toward total spot volume, Binance is incentivizing high-volume traders who previously faced caps on how their OTC activity influenced their status. Previously restricted to VIP 4, users can now leverage their OTC activity to climb the full ladder up to VIP 9, provided they meet the necessary BNB balance requirements.
Catherine Chen, Head of VIP and Institutional at Binance, stated the adjustments are intended to create a more flexible path for users while maintaining clear, measurable benchmarks. Beyond the wallet threshold reduction and the OTC multiplier, the program’s fee structure remains unchanged. Eligible users will see their status updated automatically on a daily basis, with the system defaulting to the highest tier achieved across multiple qualification criteria. Account holders can track their progress through the My VIP Mobile Hub.
