President and CEO Mikael Staffas acknowledged the mixed landscape of the group's twelve business units, noting that while the long-term outlook remains positive, the path forward is not without friction. Operating profit, excluding process inventory revaluation, reached SEK 2,872 million, significantly outpacing the previous year's SEK 1,281 million. Earnings per share climbed to SEK 7.81, up from SEK 2.02.
Operational performance varied by site. The Garpenberg mine saw lower earnings following a planned restart after seismic activity, while Aitik showed improved milled volumes. Meanwhile, the expansion at Odda is progressing at a slower pace than initially projected. Capital allocation remains under pressure, with free cash flow sitting at SEK -2,114 million, a figure management attributes largely to an intentional inventory buildup. Geopolitical instability continues to weigh on the bottom line by driving up overall costs, and scheduled maintenance in the smelting division trimmed SEK 350 million from the quarter's operating profit.
