AllerGene CEO to Unveil In Vivo CAR-T Strategy for Severe Allergies

Sidharth Kerkar, founder and CEO of AllerGene AI Therapeutics, will detail a new approach to treating mast cell-driven diseases at the Hanson Wade In Vivo Cell Engineering & Gene Editing Summit in Boston. The presentation on July 30, 2026, focuses on using mRNA-LNP technology to selectively eliminate disease-causing cells.

The company is developing a platform that engineers CAR-T cells directly inside the patient's body. By utilizing messenger RNA delivered through lipid nanoparticles, AllerGene aims to create an off-the-shelf therapy capable of resetting allergic immune responses. This method shifts the focus from symptom management to the selective removal of tissue-resident mast cells, which are the primary drivers of conditions ranging from chronic urticaria and allergic asthma to life-threatening anaphylaxis.

Dr. Bruce S. Bochner, an expert in allergy and immunology at Northwestern University, noted that the precision of this in vivo strategy addresses long-standing challenges in the field. Unlike conventional ex vivo CAR-T manufacturing, which is often complex and costly, AllerGene’s approach seeks to offer a more scalable and controllable alternative. During the summit, Kerkar will outline the company's roadmap for moving this technology into human clinical trials, supported by the firm’s proprietary CurieCell AI Engine for research and development.
