Global Baker's Yeast Market Gains First Standardized Codex Framework

The Codex Alimentarius Commission has officially adopted a new international standard for baker's yeast, marking the first time the global industry has operated under a unified regulatory framework. Proposed by China, the measure aims to streamline cross-border trade and bolster consumer safety standards for yeast products worldwide.

Developed over five years, the standard emerged from a joint proposal by Angel Yeast and the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries (CNRIFFI). The drafting process involved a collaborative effort between China, France, and Turkey, culminating in the formal adoption of the rules during the 49th session of the commission in Geneva this July.

For Angel Yeast, the achievement represents a strategic shift from a traditional product supplier to a primary architect of global industry benchmarks. The company has long applied internal quality specifications across its manufacturing hubs in Russia, Egypt, and Indonesia. By securing this international consensus, the firm successfully translates its own technical protocols into a broader, science-based mandate. Deng Juanjuan, Head of Technology at Angel Yeast, noted that this milestone provides a foundation for future international cooperation in health, nutrition, and advanced biomanufacturing sectors.
