Lesure Adapts Human Mattress Engineering for Canine Orthopedic Beds

Testing over 200 foam formulations, pet brand Lesure has launched the RealOrtho Dog Bed, a sleep system that mirrors human mattress design. The product aims to provide joint support for aging and large-breed dogs, moving beyond the soft, non-supportive surfaces common in traditional pet bedding.

The RealOrtho bed utilizes a three-layer foam construction developed by parent company Bedshe International. A top memory foam layer contours to the animal's body to relieve pressure, while a responsive middle layer offers ten times the rebound of standard foam to assist with movement. At the base, a high-density core provides 2.4 times more structural integrity to prevent the bed from bottoming out under the weight of larger dogs.

Veterinarian Dr. Molly Brinkmann, who specializes in senior and mobility-challenged animals, has endorsed the product for its orthopedic stability. Beyond the hardware, Lesure is partnering with the AKC Canine Health Foundation to fund research into joint health and cognitive function. The beds are available in three colors and five sizes, retailing between $69.99 and $109.99 on Amazon.
