Investors Face August Deadline in Peabody Energy Class Action

A 9.7% single-day stock drop triggered by revelations at Peabody Energy’s Centurion mine has led to a class action lawsuit. Shareholders who purchased BTU stock between October 14, 2024, and May 4, 2026, have until August 24, 2026, to seek appointment as lead plaintiff in the ongoing litigation.

The legal action, spearheaded by The Gross Law Firm, centers on allegations that company leadership disseminated misleading information regarding the operational status and production timelines of the Centurion mine. While the firm publicly projected confidence, the complaint claims defendants concealed significant challenges that hindered the facility's ramp-up and longwall production targets.

Discrepancies reached a breaking point on March 30, 2026, when Peabody Energy slashed its first-quarter output guidance for the mine from an estimated 700,000 tons to just 250,000 tons. This disclosure prompted a sharp market reaction, driving the share price down to $35.68. Further pressure mounted on May 5, 2026, following the company's admission that it had failed to meet the critical March 2026 production deadline, resulting in an additional 5.7% decline in share value. Investors looking to participate in the recovery efforts or seeking more information on the filing process are directed to contact the firm before the August 24 deadline.
