Collins Aerospace and Etihad Engineering Form MRO Joint Venture

A new joint venture between Collins Aerospace and Etihad Engineering will establish a dedicated nacelle and thrust reverser maintenance facility in Abu Dhabi, significantly expanding regional support for Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 widebody fleets as demand for high-end technical aviation services continues to climb across the Middle East.

The partnership will see Collins Aerospace relocate its current UAE operations into a new 3,250-square-meter facility situated within Etihad Engineering’s expansive maintenance hub near Zayed International Airport. Scheduled to become operational in the first quarter of 2027, the site will double the company’s regional nacelle maintenance footprint. By co-locating with the Abu Dhabi Aviation group, Collins aims to provide faster turnaround times and reduced costs for international and regional carriers operating advanced widebody aircraft.

PJ Titone, vice president and general manager of Advanced Structures at Collins Aerospace, noted that the move is designed to meet the rapid growth of the Middle East aviation market by leveraging local technical expertise. For Etihad Engineering, the deal serves to broaden its existing one-stop MRO portfolio. Mahmood Al Hameli, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Aviation, stated that the collaboration supports the group’s long-term commitment to organic growth and local capability development, while Etihad Engineering CEO Daniel Hoffmann emphasized that the addition of specialized nacelle and thrust reverser services strengthens the company’s global value proposition.
