The initiative aims to remove financial hurdles for local students, including a significant donation of cleats to the Diego Rivera Learning Complex football program. Beyond equipment, the event features clinics led by former USC quarterback Isaac Ward and Athena Athletic, alongside a meet-and-greet with WBC Youth World Champion Chantel Navarro. California State Senator Lena Gonzalez and LA County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell are supporting the effort by providing backpacks and academic materials to attendees.
Lomas, an AAU National Champion quarterback for the Downey Razorbacks, launched his philanthropic work in 2019. His approach draws praise from figures like Dr. Edward Robillard, president of the Inner City Visions board, who notes that the young athlete is proving age is no barrier to effective leadership. By blending sports mentorship with essential educational resources, Lomas intends to establish this scholarship giveaway as an annual tradition that bridges the gap between athletic participation and classroom success.
