Bank of America Integrates Generative AI into EricaAssist Tool

Bank of America is upgrading its EricaAssist platform with generative AI to provide customer service representatives with real-time, context-aware insights. Currently utilized by over 18,000 employees, the system aims to accelerate resolution times and streamline complex client interactions while maintaining human oversight as the core of the service model.

The updated tool processes client data and provides actionable guidance in under three seconds. By automatically summarizing calls and suggesting next steps based on specific client histories, the technology enables staff to focus on direct communication rather than manual data retrieval. According to the bank, these improvements have already reduced average call handling times by nearly one minute per interaction.

Ashley Ross, head of consumer client experience, described the update as part of a high-tech, high-touch strategy that blends machine precision with human judgment. The bank plans to scale the technology further by expanding its deployment to additional business lines and service scenarios later this year. This initiative is part of a broader $14 billion annual technology budget, with over $4 billion specifically earmarked for new digital projects and AI integration. Chief Information Officer Tom Ellis emphasized that the rollout adheres to strict governance standards, ensuring that AI-driven recommendations remain transparent and accountable within the bank’s existing regulatory framework.
