Turning Rock Partners Realizes $30 Million Helicopter Portfolio

A $30 million helicopter asset portfolio has been successfully monetized by New York-based Turning Rock Partners. The exit concludes an investment held alongside RIVE Private Investment and SMFL Helicopters, marking a strategic shift for the trio as they capitalize on the steady demand for specialized aviation equipment in the secondary market.

The divested portfolio consists of a diverse range of Airbus, Bell, Leonardo, and Sikorsky helicopters. According to Turning Rock Chief Operating Officer John Hamilton, the assets generated consistent lease income from high-quality counterparties, bolstered by robust collateral values. While the ownership structure has shifted, SMFL Helicopters will remain the manager for the fleet.

This transaction highlights the liquidity within the aviation finance sector, a point emphasized by Alan O'Rourke, head of capital markets at SMFLH. RIVE Private Investment partner Camille Brunel noted that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to investing in underserved segments of the real assets market, leveraging cross-Atlantic expertise to navigate complex financial structures. The move allows the partners to unlock capital from these transportation assets while maintaining the operational continuity of the aircraft fleet.
