Weatherford Shares Climb as Revenue Surpasses Forecasts

Weatherford stock gained 2% in after-hours trading to hit $85.30, buoyed by second-quarter revenue that defied analyst expectations. Despite a broader year-over-year decline in earnings, the energy services provider managed to outpace the $1.07 billion revenue projection set by FactSet analysts, closing the period at $1.11 billion.

Weatherford Shares Climb as Revenue Surpasses Forecasts

Chief Executive Girish Saligram attributed the resilient performance to operational agility in the face of persistent instability across the Middle East. While net income dropped significantly to $39 million, or 55 cents per share, from the previous year's $136 million, the company is pivoting toward a more streamlined portfolio. The recent acquisition of NCS Multistage has already begun to yield results, contributing at least $15 million in cost synergies while broadening the firm's technological reach.

Looking ahead, management remains cautious but optimistic, noting that the second half of the fiscal year is positioned for a substantial increase in margin contribution. This outlook comes even as the company trimmed its full-year guidance, a move reflecting the volatile nature of the current global energy market.
