transcosmos Enters Professional Pickleball With New Team Ownership

Japan’s professional sports landscape is set to expand this October with the launch of the PX LEAGUE, the country’s first corporate-owned pickleball circuit. Among the inaugural participants is transcosmos, which has officially entered the fray as the owner of a new professional team, transcosmos NEXUS.

The Tokyo-based company’s entry into the sport coincides with the third series of Pickleball X, an initiative designed to cultivate elite talent capable of competing on the global stage. The decision to sponsor a team stems from the sport’s rapid growth in Japan, where participation is projected to hit 330,000 players by 2026. For transcosmos, the move reflects its corporate philosophy of connecting disparate elements—a theme embedded in the team’s name, NEXUS.

The PX LEAGUE will run from October 2026 through April 2027 at the Sansan Pickleball Court Ikebukuro. The competition features six mixed-gender teams, each composed of six players. Matches are structured to force full squad participation across five categories, including singles and doubles, culminating in a playoff series to determine the annual champion. The organization has secured high-profile expertise for the project, with coaching duties led by former U.S. champion Daniel Moore and Japanese tennis veteran Rika Fujiwara. Public applications for player spots open on August 10, followed by a team draft on September 12.
