ZHARYQ Kazakhstan Taps Rivada for Secure Space-Based Connectivity

Telecom operator ZHARYQ Kazakhstan has partnered with Rivada Space Networks to deploy an orbital mesh constellation, aiming to bolster data security for government and commercial clients across Central Asia and Azerbaijan. The agreement integrates Rivada’s satellite infrastructure to bypass traditional terrestrial gateways, ensuring sovereign, low-latency communications for high-stakes sectors.

The collaboration leverages Rivada’s Outernet—a planned constellation of 600 low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites—to provide secure, point-to-point data transmission. By utilizing inter-satellite laser links, the system creates a private network in space where data avoids terrestrial routing, a feature designed to meet the growing demand for data sovereignty in banking, defense, and telecommunications.

ZHARYQ, a systems integrator with over 35 years of regional experience, will utilize this infrastructure to deliver resilient, multi-gigabit connectivity to fixed and maritime customers across Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan. Korchagin Alexey, Commercial Director of ZHARYQ, noted that the move addresses a critical need for cybersecurity in enterprise sectors, while Rivada CEO Declan Ganley emphasized that the gateway-less architecture provides a unique layer of defense against geopolitical risks and infrastructure vulnerabilities. As part of the agreement, ZHARYQ will join Rivada’s Customer Advisory Board to coordinate technical workshops and drive network adoption.
