Curis Reports Positive Clinical Progress for Emavusertib

Clinical data released by Lexington-based biotechnology firm Curis reveals improved response rates for its lead candidate emavusertib in treating primary central nervous system lymphoma, alongside an accelerated timeline for patient enrollment and data disclosure in its ongoing chronic lymphocytic leukemia study.

The updated results from the TakeAim Lymphoma study demonstrate notable efficacy for emavusertib, an IRAK4 and FLT3 inhibitor, particularly among patients who have previously struggled with BTK inhibitor therapy. For those patients, objective response rates climbed to 33%, up from 26% in previous reporting. Among BTKi-naïve patients, the study recorded a 100% objective response rate, confirming the potential of the drug to reverse disease progression where standard options often fail.

Expanding Clinical Development

Beyond the lymphoma trial, Curis is scaling its efforts in the TakeAim CLL study, which combines emavusertib with the BTK inhibitor zanubrutinib. The company confirmed that patient recruitment has accelerated, with 10 individuals already consented. Curis now expects to report data from 5 to 10 patients by December 2026, doubling the previous guidance. CEO James Dentzer noted that the positive feedback from clinicians and regulators remains a primary driver for the company's commitment to these dual-pathway blockade therapies. The company is scheduled to host a webcast to discuss these findings in further detail.
