KingsCover Scales Faith-Based Insurance Across 16 States

Nearly 200,000 congregations across the United States now have access to specialized insurance as KingsCover, a Risk Theory subsidiary, pushes into 16 new states. The expansion targets unique vulnerabilities within religious organizations, from cyber threats to financial misconduct, which often remain unaddressed by standard commercial policies.

The rollout encompasses states including Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. This growth arrives just nine months after the company’s inception, marking a shift from its original focus as a Texas-centric program to a national provider. John Murphy, senior vice president at the firm, noted that the rapid adoption underscores a significant demand for insurance products aligned specifically with faith-based operations.

To address the evolving risk landscape, the company is deploying specialized coverage options. This includes commercial crime protection against theft and fraud by employees or volunteers, alongside integrated cyber liability policies designed to mitigate the impact of ransomware and data breaches. By tailoring these products to the specific operational needs of ministries, the firm aims to close coverage gaps that traditional policies frequently leave exposed.
