The annual assessment evaluates franchise systems through over 150 metrics, including financial stability, brand strength, growth, and the level of support provided to franchisees. This year, Ace Hardware claimed the No. 1 position in the miscellaneous retail category, while Ace Handyman Services outperformed competitors in the home repairs and handyman services segment.
Andy Schmitt, Vice President of Retail Operations and New Business at Ace Hardware, attributed the achievement to the individual entrepreneurs who operate stores nationwide. Similarly, Andy Bell, Founder and CEO of Ace Handyman Services, noted that the ranking reflects the quality of service provided by local craftspeople. Acquired by Ace in 2019, the handyman division now spans nearly 400 territories across 47 states, signaling a shift in consumer preference toward professional 'do it for me' services over traditional DIY projects.
