FDA Grants Priority Review to Pfizer Prostate Cancer Combination

A 52% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death has prompted the FDA to grant priority review to Pfizer’s supplemental application for the Talzenna-Xtandi combination. The drugmaker seeks to expand the treatment’s use to men with earlier-stage, metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer carrying specific gene mutations.

FDA Grants Priority Review to Pfizer Prostate Cancer Combination

The regulatory filing follows positive results from the Phase 3 TALAPRO-3 trial, demonstrating consistent clinical benefits across patients with both BRCA and non-BRCA HRR gene alterations. Pfizer reported no new safety signals during the study, bolstering the case for moving the therapy into earlier treatment lines.

Currently, the combination is approved only for patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. If the FDA approves this expansion by the fourth quarter of 2026, it would provide a new therapeutic option for men at an earlier stage of disease progression. The application is also undergoing evaluation by the European Medicines Agency.
