The Adams County Sheriff's Office requested support from the Animal Rescue Corps (ARC) after arriving on the scene, as the county lacks the resources for animal control or emergency sheltering. Rescuers found the animals restrained by heavy chains, confined to patches of hard dirt near makeshift shelters. Field teams identified equipment typically associated with blood sports, including bite ropes and suspended tires.

Sheriff Travis Patten noted that ARC absorbed all costs for the operation, sparing local taxpayers while providing the animals with immediate medical intervention. Executive director Tim Woodward described many of the rescued dogs as severely emaciated with untreated scarring. The animals have been relocated to ARC’s facility near Nashville, Tennessee, where they will remain under care pending the outcome of the legal proceedings against the property owners.
