Horizon Petroleum Advances Lachowice Gas Project in Poland

Horizon Petroleum is moving into the operational phase at its Lachowice-7 well in southern Poland, having secured both the final regulatory approvals and the necessary capital. The company plans to begin rig mobilization on July 27, aiming to confirm the long-term production potential of the site’s natural gas reserves.

The Calgary-based firm, through its subsidiary Energia Karpaty Zachodnie, has contracted Exalo Drilling S.A. to handle the re-entry, stimulation, and flow testing of the L7 well. Following the completion of site construction and the receipt of the Polish Mining Authority’s operational work program approval, field crews are expected to break ground around August 1. The program focuses on removing mechanical plugs, re-perforating the Upper Devonian reservoir, and conducting acid stimulation to verify sustainable flow rates.

CEO Dr. David Winter described the move as a critical step in the company’s phased development strategy, which targets initial commercial cash flow by early 2027. Horizon currently reports 34 BCF in 2P reserves at the site, with a broader potential of 1.2 TCF of gas in place. To fund these activities, the company recently closed an oversubscribed convertible debenture offering, raising $681,000. These funds are earmarked for the Lachowice workover, obligations in the Cieszyn concession, and general corporate working capital.
