IMAX Shares Rally as The Odyssey Shatters Box Office Records

A 6.5% premarket surge pushed IMAX shares to $41.85 today, fueled by the record-breaking debut of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The film, shot entirely with IMAX cameras, generated a staggering $52 million globally from the company's screens alone, accounting for one-fifth of its total opening weekend box office.

The momentum extends beyond the initial release. With $60 million in presales already secured and consecutive record-setting performances on Monday and Tuesday, the film is positioned for a historic theatrical run. This commercial success arrives alongside a strong second-quarter financial report, where revenue climbed 12% to $102.8 million.

Earnings reached $15.4 million, or 27 cents per share, marking a significant increase from the 20 cents per share reported during the same period last year. When excluding one-time items, adjusted earnings hit 43 cents a share, comfortably outpacing the 28 cents per share forecast by analysts polled by FactSet.
