WSS Targets Back-to-School Season with Community-Focused Campaign

With backpacks starting at $19.99 and a series of neighborhood events, WSS is rolling out its “Give Them Superpowers” campaign. The Los Angeles-based retailer aims to balance trend-focused footwear with budget-friendly apparel, offering families a mix of retail discounts and community support services like free haircuts and school supply giveaways.

The campaign, running through early autumn, anchors its appeal on affordability and convenience. Blanca Gonzalez, SVP and General Manager at WSS, noted that the objective is to remove the stress from the shopping experience by consolidating essential gear and footwear under one roof. Beyond standard retail offerings, the company is implementing a "Sneaker Bucks" incentive program, granting shoppers $25 off a $75 purchase for transactions made between July 13 and September 7.

Product highlights for the season include modern runners like the New Balance 2002, classic PUMA Suede styles, and specialized footwear such as the adidas Samba Jane. To drive volume, WSS has introduced "Mix, Match, and Save" bundles on select brands. Between July 24 and August 2, the retailer will host in-store events at participating locations, providing localized resources such as health screenings and grooming services to help students prepare for the academic year.
