Edge Unveils Arris Mineral-Based Trim to Combat PVC Joint Separation

Thermal expansion often leaves PVC trim joints unsightly and gapped, but Edge is betting on a new material to solve the problem. The company just launched Arris, a mineral-based composite trim utilizing proprietary Surestone technology designed to maintain structural integrity and clean lines regardless of seasonal temperature shifts.

The product, developed by the Grand Rapids-based subsidiary of UFP Industries, aims to redefine exterior trim by prioritizing dimensional stability. Unlike traditional PVC alternatives that move significantly with heat, Arris is engineered to hold tight, precise mitered corners. Managing director Dominic Beaulieu noted that the development process leaned heavily on contractor feedback and the proven durability of the Surestone platform, which previously anchored the firm's Deckorators decking line.

Arris hits the market in a variety of widths from 4 to 12 inches and standard thicknesses, arriving in 20-foot lengths. The trim features a scratch-resistant white capstock and is designed for immediate installation, a move intended to trim labor hours on the jobsite. The company plans to showcase the product at the Southeast Building Conference in Orlando later this month, marking a strategic push into a new category of high-performance exterior building materials.
