According to federal regulators, internal wear on the starter motor component serves as the primary catalyst for the overheating issue.

To address the hazard, dealerships are instructed to replace the affected starter motors at no cost to owners. The manufacturer plans to begin mailing official notification letters in late August to alert drivers of the necessary repairs. This campaign significantly broadens the scope of a smaller recall initiated earlier this year as evidence of the component failure continues to mount across the production line.
