Alphabet AI Spending Spree Rattles Tech Investors

Alphabet shares tumbled after the Google parent company reported an unprecedented dip into negative free cash flow, a stark byproduct of its aggressive artificial intelligence infrastructure build-out. The company’s decision to hike its annual capital expenditure target by $15 billion signaled a costly, long-term commitment to maintaining its lead in AI capacity.

Amidst the fiscal scrutiny, a regulatory filing revealed that Google holds a $94.1 billion stake in SpaceX, representing roughly 6% of the aerospace company. This holding is split between $80 billion in shares under short-term sale restrictions and $14.1 billion in long-term holdings locked until the third quarter of 2027.
