Niutech Unveils Low-Temperature Solution for Titanium-Iron Tailings

A 300,000-ton-per-year facility currently under construction in Linyi, Shandong, signals a shift in mineral recovery. Niutech’s new titanium-iron tailings reduction system has achieved an internationally advanced rating, promising to transform low-grade waste into high-value strategic resources through a unique low-temperature pyrolysis process.

The project utilizes a proprietary in-situ reduction technology that challenges the necessity of traditional high-temperature electric furnace smelting. By operating at temperatures between 550°C and 600°C, the system achieves a reduction rate exceeding 50%. This method effectively turns waste plastics and organic materials into reducing agents, integrating solid waste treatment with mineral enrichment in a single production line.

Efficiency gains remain central to the design. The company reports a waste heat utilization rate surpassing 93%, which contributes to a 36% reduction in total energy consumption compared to conventional industry standards. Furthermore, the process cuts CO₂ emissions per unit of output by roughly 40%. With intelligent control systems now managing material-temperature regulation and dynamic sealing, the technology offers a pathway for sustainable, large-scale processing of vanadium-titanium magnetite and ilmenite tailings.
