The index evaluates cities based on a complex matrix of purchasing power, healthcare access, housing affordability, and environmental factors. By climbing from a score of 217.1 in 2023 to its current peak, the municipality has solidified its reputation for stability and infrastructure. The Netherlands dominates the upper tier of the global rankings, with Utrecht, Eindhoven, Groningen, and Rotterdam also appearing in the top ten.

Nur Icar, Alderman for Work, Income and Sport, attributes this sustained success to the city's ability to integrate a professional international environment with a compact, accessible layout. Residents benefit from proximity to government institutions and specialized knowledge networks, while maintaining immediate access to 11 kilometers of coastline and green spaces. This geographic advantage allows the city to support a workforce that transitions seamlessly between high-stakes global business and outdoor recreation.
