Japanese signaling specialist Daido Signal Co. Ltd. reported a significant jump in operating income for the nine months ending December 31, though a contraction in net profit weighed on overall earnings per share.

Daido Signal Revenue Climbs 12% Despite Net Profit Decline

The Tokyo-listed firm saw its revenue climb to ¥16.54 billion, a notable increase from the ¥14.80 billion reported in the corresponding period last year. This growth trickled down to the company's operating profit, which surged to ¥1.35 billion, representing a substantial improvement over the ¥944 million posted previously. Pretax profits also showed strength, rising to ¥1.53 billion from ¥1.07 billion.

However, the broader operational gains were offset by a decline in the bottom line. According to the company’s financial statement, net profit fell to ¥1.06 billion, down from ¥1.31 billion a year ago. This resulted in a dip in earnings per share to ¥67.05, compared to the ¥80.87 reported in the prior year's nine-month window.

Key Performance Metrics

    • Revenue rose to ¥16.54 billion from ¥14.80 billion.
    • Operating profit increased by approximately 43% to ¥1.35 billion.
    • Net profit contracted to ¥1.06 billion despite higher pretax earnings.
The financial results were calculated based on Japanese accounting standards. The data highlights a period where increased sales and improved operational margins were tempered by factors impacting the final net result, though the company did not immediately specify the cause of the net income divergence.
