HD Hyundai Samho Lands Port of Tacoma Crane Deal

A strategic contract with Washington United Terminals marks a fresh push into the American maritime infrastructure market for HD Hyundai Samho. The agreement tasks HD Hyundai Samho with a full turnkey delivery, covering design, manufacturing, and final installation of two quay cranes and two yard cranes by 2028. This modernization effort at the Washington United Terminals facility aims to replace aging infrastructure, allowing the port to handle larger container vessels and improve overall cargo throughput reliability.

This partnership reinforces a long-standing relationship between the two entities, as HD Hyundai Samho previously supplied four quay cranes to the same site back in 1999. With twenty units delivered to U.S. ports since 1985, the company leverages this history to align with current American efforts to bolster supply chain security. An official from the firm noted that the project serves as a cornerstone for their commitment to eco-friendly, high-efficiency equipment, positioning the manufacturer as a key player in the evolving Korea-U.S. shipbuilding and port technology cooperation framework.
