Ardagh Group Targets 2030 Goals Amidst Industrial Decarbonization

Against a backdrop of geopolitical volatility and shifting environmental regulations, Ardagh Group has released its 2025 Sustainability Report. The Luxembourg-based packaging giant, which operates 58 facilities globally, reports steady progress in reducing carbon emissions across its metal and glass divisions while maintaining its path toward circular economy targets.

Newly appointed AGP-Europe CEO Alexander Kuzan emphasized that the company remains committed to decarbonization despite external pressures. The report outlines specific gains for both Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) and Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP). Since 2020, AMP has cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 16%, while AGP achieved a 17% reduction in the same categories. Scope 3 emissions have also fallen, dropping 18% for AMP and 11% for AGP.

Material efficiency remains a core pillar of the strategy. AMP beverage cans now utilize approximately 76% recycled content, with the division successfully reaching a 100% Zero Waste to Landfill milestone across all production sites. AGP glass containers currently incorporate roughly 55% recycled glass. Renewable energy integration continues to scale, reaching 47% of electricity use for AMP and 25% for the glass business.

Beyond environmental metrics, the company continues to manage its global workforce of 20,000 employees. Social initiatives have centered on the Ardagh for Education program, which has reached over 300,000 students, alongside ongoing investments in employee wellbeing and biodiversity projects. These results serve as a progress marker for the group’s broader 2030 sustainability mandate.
