Ardagh Metal Packaging Hits Sustainability Milestones in 2025

Ardagh Metal Packaging has reached a significant environmental benchmark, achieving zero waste to landfill across all 23 of its global production facilities. The Luxembourg-based supplier of aluminium beverage cans detailed this progress in its 2025 Sustainability Report, which also highlights a 3% increase in sales volume despite market volatility.

The company’s latest data shows a marked shift toward greener operations, with global renewable electricity coverage rising to 47%. Regional performance varies, with South American facilities reaching 100% renewable energy use, while European plants hit 61% and North American sites reached 20%. These efforts contributed to an 18% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to the previous year.

Beyond energy, the firm has improved its circularity metrics, with the average recycled content in its cans climbing to 76%, up from 64% in 2020. The company also secured EcoVadis Platinum status, placing it in the top 1% of evaluated firms worldwide. CEO Oliver Graham noted that the company is successfully balancing financial growth with environmental accountability, supported by a workforce of approximately 6,500 people. The report serves as a formal update to the UN Global Compact, outlining the firm’s long-term ESG roadmap as it continues to expand its reach across nine countries.
