The new hardware integrates the StepWave XR Ion Guide, which the company claims provides six times the robustness of its predecessor, the Xevo TQ Absolute. By minimizing the impact of challenging matrix components like salts and phospholipids, the system aims to stabilize ion ratios and extend operational uptime for high-volume diagnostic centers.
Clinical applications for the device include low-level estradiol testing for hormonal cancer assessment and forensic hair toxicology. James Nutt, head of laboratory operations at Cansford Laboratories, noted that the increased signal stability allows for more reliable quantification when working near critical decision thresholds. The Xevo TQ Absolute XR is now available as part of the broader MassTrak LC-MS/MS IVD portfolio, paired with the ACQUITY UPLC I-Class PLUS System to streamline sample characterization.
