South Field, which launched commercial operations in 2021, utilizes GE 7HA turbine technology to maintain some of the lowest per megawatt-hour operating costs within the PJM Interconnection grid. The plant serves as a vital baseload power source in a region facing increasing supply constraints. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the acquisition underscores a broader strategy by SVP to capitalize on the structural growth of the power generation sector.
David Geenberg, head of North American Corporate Investments at SVP, noted that the firm intends to collaborate with existing Asian and U.S. shareholders to enhance the asset's value. This investment functions through EverGen Power, an asset management platform established in 2024 to oversee critical energy infrastructure. For the firm, the project represents a targeted effort to address the electrification demands currently reshaping the North American utility landscape.
