WorkBright Launches AI-Human Hybrid to Halve I-9 Compliance Costs

Boulder-based WorkBright is challenging the industry’s labor-intensive status quo by pairing artificial intelligence with human oversight to manage I-9 forms. The new service, WorkBright+, promises a 50% reduction in costs while assuming full financial liability for errors, marking a shift in how companies handle employment eligibility verification.

For years, the expense of managing I-9 compliance has been tethered to human labor hours, making full-service outsourcing prohibitively costly for many organizations. With federal penalties for errors rising and new requirements under the E-Verify ICAv32 update looming, businesses have faced a difficult choice between expensive professional services and the risks of manual, in-house management.

WorkBright+ aims to bridge this gap by automating document reviews and Section 2 completions while keeping human experts in the loop for complex compliance tasks. Unlike existing tools that only handle specific segments of the workflow, this service covers the entire lifecycle, including E-Verify management and ongoing reverifications. CEO Chapelle Ryon emphasizes that the model relies on human accountability, ensuring that a compliance expert reviews every entry in the audit trail. To back this claim, the company is assuming the risk for every case processed; if an audit uncovers an error in a file handled by the system, WorkBright covers the associated costs.
