Noble Corporation Posts Q2 Loss After Brazilian Operational Setbacks

Operational suspensions of two rigs in Brazil cost Noble Corporation $43 million in the second quarter of 2026, dragging the offshore driller to a $37 million net loss. Despite the shortfall, the company secured $200 million in new contract value and maintains a substantial $6.8 billion revenue backlog.

The Houston-based contractor reported total revenue of $720 million for the quarter, a drop from the $786 million recorded in the first three months of the year. Beyond the Brazilian disruptions impacting the Noble Faye Kozack and Noble Courage, the firm faced the conclusion of the Noble Globetrotter I contract in the Black Sea. These factors contributed to a sequential decline in rig utilization, which dipped to 64% from 68% in the prior quarter.

CEO Robert W. Eifler pointed to market tightness for high-specification drillships as a bright spot, with dayrates climbing into the mid-$400,000 range. While the company completed a debt refinancing to unlock $35 million in annual cash benefits, it opted to lower its full-year 2026 guidance for revenue and Adjusted EBITDA. Noble intends to maintain its capital return program, declaring a $0.50 per share cash dividend for the third quarter.
