Hefty brings nearly thirty years of legal experience to his new role, having navigated both sides of the regulatory landscape. His career began in the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, followed by fifteen years in private practice as a partner at an international law firm. During his ten-year tenure at the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, he served as both an Investigative and Senior Trial Attorney, representing the agency in federal court against deceptive securities offerings.

At Corgi, Hefty will manage relationships with regulators, oversee internal compliance programs, and advise the Board of Directors. CEO Nico Laqua noted that the hire is intended to balance the company’s rapid technological innovation with institutional trust. Hefty stated that his background provides a unique perspective on what happens when companies fail to meet regulatory expectations, a perspective he plans to apply to Corgi’s infrastructure to ensure the firm maintains integrity while expanding its product offerings.
