Micross Acquires AEMtec to Scale European Microelectronics Footprint

Micross Components has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Berlin-based AEMtec, a move designed to bolster the company's advanced packaging and optoelectronics capabilities. The deal marks a major expansion for the U.S.-based firm, establishing its first large-scale manufacturing presence in continental Europe to serve high-reliability industrial and defense sectors.

AEMtec, currently a portfolio company of Capiton, brings extensive expertise in end-to-end microelectronic integration. Its technical portfolio includes wafer back-end services, 3D integration, and high-precision assembly performed at cleanroom facilities in Berlin and Dresden, as well as Boston. By absorbing the German firm, Micross gains critical infrastructure to support the European defense industrial base while deepening its reach into the medical, biotechnology, and communication markets.

This transaction represents the eleventh acquisition under the ownership of Behrman Capital. The existing AEMtec management team, led by CEO Robert Giertz, will transition into the Micross organization following the deal's expected close in the second half of 2026. Micross CEO Jim Cannon noted that the integration of AEMtec’s specialized optoelectronic packaging will accelerate the delivery of high-performance solutions to global customers. Financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed.
