CORE Biomedicine Secures Global Oncology Rights from Eisai

Boston-based CORE Biomedicine has finalized an exclusive licensing agreement with Japan’s Eisai Co., Ltd., taking control of a suite of preclinical oncology programs. The deal grants CORE global rights to develop and commercialize assets targeting key molecular drivers, signaling a strategic pivot to expand its precision medicine pipeline.

The portfolio, originally cultivated by Eisai and its affiliates, centers on distinct biological pathways involved in tumor growth. By integrating these assets, CORE aims to accelerate the transition of its research into clinical-stage therapies for patients facing significant unmet medical needs. The company, which operates across the United States, Japan, and China, was founded by oncology veterans specifically to bridge the gap between deep cancer biology and therapeutic application.

Dr. Douglas McMillin, co-founder and head of business development at CORE, noted that the company intends to leverage its lineage therapeutics expertise to shepherd these programs through the development process. While financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the partnership provides CORE with a expanded foundation to advance its mission of tailoring treatments to broader patient populations.
