Chris Weaver Brings Tech-Driven Home Refinishing to Salt Lake City

After a career in finance and software product management, University of Utah alumnus Chris Weaver is launching a Spray-Net franchise in Salt Lake City this July. The venture introduces a proprietary, weather-adjustable coating technology designed to provide factory-quality finishes for home exteriors and cabinetry in a single day.

The expansion into Utah targets the regional home improvement sector by offering an alternative to traditional painting. Weaver’s business model utilizes industrial-grade coatings and a patented application process developed by company founder Carmelo Marsala, who holds four patents for his chemical formulas and techniques. The service covers a range of materials, including vinyl, aluminum, brick, and stucco, backed by a 15-year no-peel warranty.

Weaver identified the franchise as a way to transition from corporate life into entrepreneurship, focusing on the intersection of home maintenance and material science. The company, which has revamped over 30,000 homes across North America since 2010, markets its solution as a cost-effective bridge between standard painting and full-scale exterior replacement. Marsala noted that Weaver’s background in technology and financial discipline aligns with the brand's growth strategy for the dynamic Salt Lake City market.
