Aqua Medical has previously treated 66 patients outside the United States, reporting data that includes hemoglobin A1c reduction and complete insulin elimination in some cases. These international results prompted the FDA to authorize the current Investigational Device Exemption study, which is now enrolling participants across four leading U.S. academic centers.
