HashKey Eyes Singapore Derivatives Exchange APEX in Expansion Bid

Hong Kong-based HashKey Holdings has signed a non-binding framework agreement to acquire the entire equity interest in the Asia Pacific Exchange (APEX). The deal, if finalized, would grant the fintech firm a rare set of dual licenses from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to operate both an exchange and a clearinghouse.

APEX currently stands as one of only three market participants in Singapore holding both the Approved Exchange and Approved Clearing House licenses. By absorbing this infrastructure, HashKey aims to bolster its institutional service suite, integrating trading, custody, and settlement capabilities into a single, regulated platform.

The acquisition remains subject to rigorous due diligence and formal approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. As of July 29, 2026, no definitive documents have been executed, and the transaction is not guaranteed. Should the deal proceed, it will be classified as a notifiable transaction under Chapter 14 of the Listing Rules, requiring further public disclosure. This move aligns with HashKey’s stated strategy to expand its footprint across Asia’s primary financial hubs while operating under stringent, multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks.
