The company functions by purchasing truckloads of inventory from major retailers including Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Home Depot. These items are then listed on a proprietary platform where bidding starts at $1 with no reserve price. According to company leadership, this model allows shoppers to secure discounts of up to 80% off standard retail pricing.
Kellen Campbell, co-founder and president of MAC.BID, noted that the expansion serves as a response to rising costs for families, framing the platform as a way to access needed goods without compromising household budgets. Beyond consumer savings, the firm addresses the logistical challenges retailers face when managing high volumes of returns. By offloading these goods, retailers avoid the labor-intensive process of sorting and re-routing inventory internally.
Headquartered in Butler, Pennsylvania, the company currently maintains a footprint across 12 states. In 2025, the firm processed over 17,000 truckloads of merchandise, resulting in more than $1.1 billion in total consumer savings. With daily auction volume exceeding 300,000 items, the St. Peters warehouse marks a significant step in the company's broader effort to divert returned goods from waste streams into secondary markets.
