Cantina Raises $8 Million to Deploy Autonomous Security Workforce

As AI-driven cyberattacks outpace human defense capabilities, New York-based startup Cantina has emerged from stealth with $8 million in new funding. The company, which has now raised $16.5 million total, deploys agentic security workers designed to identify, remediate, and verify software vulnerabilities faster than traditional security teams can manage.

The launch arrives at a critical juncture for enterprise security. According to the 2026 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, vulnerability exploitation has officially surpassed stolen credentials as the primary entry point for cyberattacks. Despite this shift, remediation rates for critical vulnerabilities have dropped to 26 percent, leaving most organizations struggling with a massive backlog of unaddressed risks.

Cantina aims to close this gap by moving beyond simple detection. Its platform builds a dynamic, digital twin of a client's infrastructure, mapping relationships between assets, users, and cloud roles. By integrating these environmental insights with autonomous agents, the system automates the investigation and coordination phases that typically consume thousands of manual hours. According to CEO Hari Mulackal, the goal is to provide security teams with agents that function at the level of a staff engineer, continuously learning from every resolved issue to increase precision over time. The company currently supports clients in regulated industries, including healthcare and fintech, and maintains early access to advanced model capabilities through partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic.
