Proteotype Launches Alchemi Platform to Scale Cancer Diagnostics

With €499,000 in backing from the European Innovation Council, Portugal-based Proteotype Diagnostics has introduced Alchemi, a proprietary software architecture designed to bridge the gap between complex laboratory measurements and clinical decision-making for its investigational multi-cancer test, Enlighten.

The platform functions as the digital engine for Enlighten, a blood-based test that identifies tumor development by analyzing the body’s biological response. By utilizing industry standards such as HL7 FHIR and SNOMED CT, Alchemi aims to decentralize diagnostic processing, moving away from reliance on a single central facility toward a model that integrates directly into local healthcare pathways. This modular design allows for secure, multi-country deployment while maintaining strict regulatory compliance and audit trails for machine-learning models.

Beginning September 1, 2026, the 15-month development program will focus on refining machine-learning outputs and cloud security. According to CEO and co-founder Wesley Sukdao, the platform addresses the logistical complexity of translating biological data into reliable results for clinicians across diverse international settings. As the company expands its clinical evidence through the MODERNISED and INNOVATOR studies, the platform is intended to ensure these diagnostic outputs remain reproducible and explainable. Proteotype is currently scaling its operations at its Torres Vedras site to support the integration of these data-heavy workflows.
