The company’s underlying revenue grew by 4% to £1.779 billion, supported by a 19% revenue jump in its Virtual Learning division. While Assessment & Qualifications returned to growth in the second quarter, the firm successfully completed a £350 million share buyback and increased its interim dividend by 5%, signaling confidence in its balance sheet despite shifting market conditions.

Chief Executive Omar Abbosh emphasized that Pearson is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the accelerating need for professional reskilling in an AI-driven economy. The company’s enterprise learning segment saw 7% growth, fueled by new agreements with major technology firms, including a recent partnership with Adobe and a deal to support a leading AI lab’s global certification program. Looking ahead, Pearson expects mid-single-digit underlying revenue growth for the full year, with free cash flow conversion projected between 90% and 100%.
