J.P. Morgan Debuts First Extension Strategy ETF

J.P. Morgan Asset Management has launched the JPMorgan U.S. Large Cap Value Plus ETF (JLVP) on the Nasdaq, marking the firm's first active extension strategy available in an ETF wrapper. The fund aims to navigate market concentration by balancing long positions in undervalued stocks with selective short positions.

The new ETF extends the firm’s institutional-grade strategy, which has been operational since 2016, to a broader investor base. By utilizing short positions to fund additional long exposure, the fund seeks to push total equity exposure beyond standard 100% long-only limitations. This approach is designed to provide alpha generation while maintaining disciplined risk management across varying market cycles.

Portfolio managers Scott Blasdell and Jim Brown lead the fund, drawing on a 40-year fundamental valuation framework. They are supported by a 60-analyst team that vets companies through rigorous bottom-up research. To encourage adoption, J.P. Morgan is waiving a portion of the management fee until February 29, 2028, setting net expenses at 105 basis points, inclusive of estimated short dividend costs. After this period, the base management fee is scheduled to rise to 65 basis points.
