Metallium Shifts Focus to Commercializing Flash Joule Technology

With a cash balance of A$65 million and binding feedstock contracts in hand, Metallium Limited is moving its Flash Joule Heating platform toward full-scale production. The company confirmed it has de-risked its core extraction technology, setting a target for initial product sales in the first half of 2027.

The Houston-based company, through its subsidiary Flash Metals USA, has completed over 100 test campaigns to validate the modular scale-up of its Flash Joule Heating technology. This process extracts precious metals and critical minerals—including rare earths, germanium, and platinum group metals—from e-waste and industrial byproducts. Having successfully demonstrated the platform's versatility, management has transitioned from technical validation to operational optimization and commercial expansion.

Metallium has secured binding agreements for 4,000 tons per annum of printed circuit board feedstock, covering half of the capacity planned for its Stage 1 facility in Texas. CEO Michael Walshe noted that the transition to commercialization follows a successful multi-reactor operating campaign. As the company prepares for a potential NASDAQ uplisting, it continues to advance partnerships across government and defense sectors, with further technical performance data expected to be released next month.
