American Regent Recalls Adequan Canine and Equine Injections

American Regent, Inc. Animal Health has issued a nationwide recall for specific lots of its Adequan Canine and Adequan i.m. joint medications. The voluntary action follows the discovery of glass fiber particulate matter within the injectable solutions during routine testing of internally retained samples.

The recall affects two lots of Adequan Canine (3369 and 25011) and two lots of Adequan i.m. (24416 and 25265P). While these products are designed to treat degenerative joint dysfunction in dogs and horses, the presence of glass fibers poses a significant risk of local irritation, inflammation, infection, or abscesses at the injection site. To date, the company reports no confirmed adverse events associated with the affected batches.

Veterinarians and pet owners are urged to stop using the identified lots immediately. Distributors and clinics should return or discard any remaining inventory. American Regent has established dedicated contact channels for product returns and reporting potential health concerns, working in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to manage the retrieval process.
