The facility is engineered to process 200,000 tonnes of source-separated organic waste annually. Upon reaching full capacity, it is projected to generate between 350,000 and 400,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas each year, alongside the production of low-carbon liquid fertilizer and food-grade liquefied carbon dioxide. This multi-output model is designed to maximize resource recovery from a single waste stream.

Jamie Jongsma, Chief Financial Officer of Convertus Group, noted that the financing underscores investor confidence in the company’s anaerobic digestion technology. Benjamin Shenwick, Principal at Power Sustainable Infrastructure Credit, emphasized that the project provides essential environmental infrastructure for the Greater Toronto Area while maintaining strong operational redundancy. With construction currently underway, commissioning is slated to begin later this year, followed by a scheduled service commencement in early 2027.
