The partnership focuses on next-generation power electronics designed to meet the rigorous demands of shifting automotive architectures. For the plug-in hybrid segment, BorgWarner is providing an updated inverter design integrated with its proprietary Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) technology, ensuring full compatibility with the automaker's latest vehicle operating systems.
Regarding the 800V battery-electric programs, the company will deploy its latest Viper Silicon Carbide (SiC) power switches combined with dual-sided-cooled power modules. According to Isabelle McKenzie, President and General Manager of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems, this multi-program extension underscores the company's ability to iterate technology generation by generation alongside its OEM partners. These components are specifically engineered to bolster vehicle efficiency and support the transition toward emission-free driving models.
