HiddenLayer Launches Security Suite for AI Coding Agents

As AI coding agents transition from simple assistants to autonomous systems capable of executing shell commands and modifying repositories, HiddenLayer is rolling out Agent Harness Security to guard these environments against prompt injection and unauthorized data access without disrupting the developer workflow.

The Austin-based security firm designed this module to integrate directly into the native hook surface of coding agents. By monitoring activity in real time—ranging from file edits to dependency installations—the platform aims to mitigate risks inherent in the current shift toward AI-driven software development. Gartner projects that 90% of enterprise software engineers will rely on these AI assistants by 2028, turning developer workstations into complex execution environments prone to new attack vectors.

Unlike traditional security tools that rely on blunt block-or-allow mechanisms, this solution employs content-shaping to redact sensitive information before it reaches a model. It also steers agents away from poisoned tool responses, allowing processes to continue safely rather than forcing manual intervention. According to CEO Chris Sestito, the goal is to provide granular control over what agents see and execute, enabling enterprises to scale their AI adoption without compromising infrastructure integrity.
